UPDATE: Man arrested in connection with Lake Charles fatal shooting

Lake Charles police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting in Lake Charles Thursday morning.

At 5:22 p.m., officers located 27-year-old Fredrick Franklin, Jr., of Lake Charles, near the intersection of Hwy. 14 and 10th Street after receiving a call about suspected suspicious activity in the area, according to a spokesman with the Lake Charles Police Department. 

Franklin was arrested without incident. 

Less than twelve hours prior to Franklin's arrest, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of Medora Street around 5:30 a.m.

During the investigation, officials say they learned that 43-years-old Charles Ray Henry, of Lake Charles, was injured during the shooting. He was taken to the hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Franklin will face a second-degree murder charge. 

No bond has been set at this time.
