Acadiana Center for the Arts to hold Dance for Parkinson's class on March 9

Acadiana Center for the Arts is partnering with the Parkinson Support Group of Lafayette to provide a Dance for PD class at ACA on March 9 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. 

The class will be headed by Dance Heginbotham, a contemporary dance company from New York, who are coming to Lafayette and will be performing at the Acadiana Center for the Arts on March 10 at 7:30 pm.

Dance for PD Class

As a part of the Dance Heginbotham's 4-day stay in Lafayette, the group will host a dance class geared towards those living with Parkinson's Disease. The class is a part of group's Dance for PD program which works with individuals, caregivers, and families through dance as a way to provide exercise to those living with the disease. According to Parkinson Support Group, exercise has been proven to be beneficial as a treatment for Parkinson's Disease alongside proper medication.

Parkinson Support Group Meetings

The Parkinson Support Group meets the third Monday of every month at 6:00 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes on Ambassador Caffery. The support group is open to Parkinson patients, caregivers, family, and friends. There is no cost or registration required to attend support group meetings.
