Thursday front sets up nice Friday & weekend

Posted: Updated:

A cool front will sweep through Acadiana Thursday afternoon bringing a quick round of scattered showers, followed by seasonably cooler and rather spectacular early March weather for Friday into the weekend.

It will stay balmy until the front arrives with morning low temperatures near 70 followed by midday highs in the mid-upper 70s.

Best rain chances (50%) will be from the late morning into the mid afternoon hours, with a slight chance of a thunderstorm.

Rain shower activity Thursday will be quick-moving with no severe weather dynamics in place.

Rainfall totals will be rather light, generally one tenth of an inch or less.

Skies will become fair, with breezy north winds Thursday night into Friday.

Expect fair to partly cloudy skies and seasonably cool temperatures Friday into the weekend with morning lows in the lower 50s Friday morning, dropping into the mid-upper 40s Saturday morning. Daytime highs will be in the lower 70s Friday and Saturday moderating into the mid-70s Sunday.

Some clouds will return Sunday afternoon/evening ahead of the next frontal boundary that will yield our next good chance of showers and storms by late Monday or Monday night ending early Tuesday.

Thereafter, another fair and seasonably cool stretch will follow Wednesday through Friday...finally some real early spring on tap for Acadiana in the 10 Day Forecast!

Elsewhere around the country there will be a one-two "March comes in like a lion" punch!

A huge storm system with large circulation will develop off of the East Coast Friday bringing high coastal winds from Mid-Atlantic through New England, followed by a Northern Plains & Midwest snow storm by early next week.

High pressure systems in the wake of both storm systems will keep the Gulf South and Acadiana feeling like early March.
