Suspect wanted in fatal Jeanerette Mardi Gras parade shooting, arrested

A suspect wanted in a parade shooting in Jeanerette that killed one person and injured another has been arrested. 

Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office say that Kentrell Gabriel was arrested Tuesday afternoon February 27, 2018, at a home in Baldwin. 

Gabriel was being sought on a warrant for principal to second-degree murder and principal to attempted second-degree murder. He was booked into the St. Mary Parish Jail before being transferred to Iberia Parish. 

The shooting happened during the Jeanerette Mardi Gras parade on February 4, 2018. Two male victims were discovered shot near the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Monnot Road.

One of those victims was shot in the chest while the other was shot in the leg. 22-year-old Dante Archangel was killed in that shooting. 

 22-year-old Thaddeus Gabriel of Baldwin was arrested on a warrant for principal to second-degree murder and principal to attempted second-degree murder.  24-year-old Dandre Gabriel of Jeanerette later turned himself in to police. He was arrested for second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder

The U.S. Marsal's Violent Offender Task Force, assisted by Detectives from the St. Mary Sheriff's Office Narcotics, Investigation, and Patrol Divisions made the arrest in St. Mary Parish.
