Quick return to warm and muggy weather

Posted: Updated:

It was a nice start to the day on Tuesday, but not really a good indicator of the day we are expecting, with a quick return to a warm, muggy atmosphere and a few scattered storms.

The front which finally moved through earlier this week has returned, this time moving north and dragging along with it a tropical air mass from the Gulf of Mexico.

Winds will rapidly shift to the south and the afternoon high will be back in the upper 70s with the 80s returning by Sunday afternoon, and plenty of humidity to go along with it.

A few scattered showers and thunderstorms will pop up in the afternoon, with greater chances of rain in northern areas of the state, adding to an already saturated Red River.

While the showers will wind down in Acadiana through the midweek the atmosphere won't be any less tropical until the weekend when the next front will finally drive in some cool and dry air.
