A fundraiser on Saturday for a young boy who suffered severe brain damage in a vehicle crash in January has raised over $48,000.

The event, held at Quarter Tavern in New Iberia was organized to raise funds for 8-year-old Curtis Davis who has been through several brain surgeries since after the accident. Curtis was taking a trip to Mississippi with his grandfather, Charles Davis, when the accident occurred.

A fundraising account on YouCaring has raised $48,185 of its $50,000 goal. A silent and live auction was held on Saturday, February 24 to benefit the family and defray any medical expenses. Donations can still be made to Curtis and his family on their YouCaring page or at any Community First Bank.
