A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with threats against Alexandria Senior, Bolton and Northwood high schools.

The threats were all sent via email, a spokesman for the Rapides Parish Sheriff William Earl Hilton said.

The threats against Alexandria Senior High and Bolton High came in Tuesday. The school called police, and a soft lockdown was initiated at both schools.

Sheriff’s Detectives, along with detectives from the Alexandria Police Department and Agents from the Alexandria Office of the FBI, began their investigation to locate who was sending these threats and if they were legitimate. Until proven otherwise, the School Resource Officers remained on high alert as well as local law enforcement.

Today, Northwood High School received the same type of email previously sent, and was also placed on soft lockdown by the Rapides Parish School Board.

Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect, who is a 15 year old juvenile. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident and is being charged with five counts of terrorizing and one count obstruction of justice at this time. Detectives say more charges are possible as their investigation continues.

“I want to commend our detectives and SRO’s for their quick action and resolution in this disturbing case, coming on the heels of the Parkland, FL shooting” said Sheriff William Earl Hilton. “I would also like to thank the Alexandria Police Department, our local FBI office and the Rapides Parish School Board for their assistance in this investigation.  The safety and security of our students and our teachers is so important and we all work together to accomplish that goal.”
