Chief: Eunice High not on lock down

Posted: Updated:

Despite rumors to the contrary, there was no threat made today against Eunice High School, Police Chief Randy Fontenot says.

"Nothing happened," he said. "Because of what happened in Florida, people are nervous and anxious."

Fontenot said a student at the school said something to their grandmother, and she misunderstood what was said, and called 911 with a story that was based on that misunderstanding.

The school was not on lockdown today; in fact, by the time police got to the school class already had been dismissed, Fontenot said.

A student at Eunice Junior High was arrested today, but that case is under investigation and nothing happened at that school, either, he said. Fontenot said he couldn't release any additional information on that case yet.
