Stagnant and unsettled into the weekend

Posted: Updated:

Louisiana seems to be the stopping point for a major front that has brought frigid conditions to some parts of the country, but the front seems to have stalled leaving Acadiana on the warm muggy side.

While temperatures Thursday morning fell to around 50 in Shreveport here in Acadiana we never once dropped below 70 as warm, moist air continues to stream into the area.

This stagnant pattern of course though means that it's another warm and muggy day across south Louisiana with highs once again pushing into the 80s by Thursday afternoon.

The clouds will be capable of producing a few scattered showers through the day, although they won't be as numerous as they were on Wednesday and should be shorter lived.

Winds will remain gusty through the afternoon coming in out of the south and at times will be gusting up to 20 mph, but will likely be more sustained around the 10-15 mph range.

It's going to take a little for Acadiana to shake this forecast and we'll only really do so after the front finally gets kicked out of its resting place and finally pushes through on Sunday.

Showers and storms to wrap up the weekend will be the end result of the front moving so another unsettled and eventually soggy weekend coming up across Acadiana.
