Warm & breezy with slight rain chances through Saturday

Posted: Updated:

Tonight, as the southerly breeze dies down the front just off to our west, will begin to slide east into Acadiana producing a 30-40% chance for a few scattered showers, especially over western and northern Acadiana.

By Thursday morning the southerly breeze will pick up again pushing the front back to the north towards the ArkLaTex shifting all the showers up towards Shreveport but we will still have about a 20-30% for a few isolated showers and thunderstorms.

The main story Thursday will be the warm and breezy conditions again under partly sunny skies with highs in the lower 80s and winds out of the south at 10-20 mph with gusts to 25 mph.

Friday rain chances go up to about 40-50% during the afternoon as some tropical moisture wraps around the upper level high near the Bahamas and slides over Acadiana.

Going into the weekend the weather doesn't look too bad for Saturday as we should see times of sunshine during the afternoon pushing highs into the lower 80s with maybe a 30% for a few pop-up showers/storms.

Late Saturday into Sunday morning the front that has been stalled to our Northwest will finally swing through Acadiana producing widespread showers.

This front could then stall along the Gulf coast keeping scattered rain chance in the forecast through Sunday afternoon.

But the big thing you will notice on Sunday is cooler air working into the region behind this front as temperatures will fall into the low to mid 60s during the afternoon with overnight lows dropping into the mid to upper 50s by Monday morning.

A few scattered showers could linger into Monday morning before the front finally pushes out into the Gulf but we will remain fairly cloudy with highs holding in the upper 60s and lower 70s with a northerly breeze.

Tuesday will start dry before a shortwave moves off the Texas coast and into western Acadiana producing about a 30-40% chance for scattered showers during the afternoon and evening.

We will warm up again Wednesday thanks to the southerly breeze as highs will push near 80 under partly sunny skies and a 20% for a stray shower.

Another cold front should dive into Acadiana next Thursday evening bumping rain chances up to about 40-50%.

Behind this front it looks like we might finally get a few dry and pleasant days Friday into next weekend with partly cloudy skies and highs in the low to mid 70s.
