New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson was hospitalized this week for flu symptoms and is "resting comfortably," team officials said.

WDSU is reporting, Benson, who turned 90 in July, was admitted into the intensive care unit at Ochsner Medical Center, Saints and Pelicans Vice President Greg Bensel said in a statement Wednesday.

"Mrs. (Gayle) Benson requests and sincerely appreciates your thoughts and prayers," Bensel said in the statement.

This is the second time Benson has been hospitalized in a matter of months. In October, Benson was hospitalized after the Saints game against the Chicago Bears. Bensel said Benson was feeling weak and worn out from a busy weekend.

Tom Benson is Louisiana's richest man. According to Forbes.com, the Saints have an estimated worth of $1.75 billion, and the Pelicans are worth $650 million.
