Learn how to become a storm spotter for free March 13th

The National Weather Service will be hosting a SKYWARN® severe weather observer training on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, to all citizens interested in becoming severe weather Storm Spotter.  

Trained Storm Spotters can identify and explain weather conditions to weather service professionals and by doing so, enhance the severe weather warning system. SKYWARN® covers the basics of thunderstorm development, fundamentals of storm structure, identifying potential severe weather features, information to report, how to report information, and basic severe weather safety. 

Anyone who is interested in learning how to assist with reporting severe weather to St. Martin Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and the National Weather Service in Lake Charles should attend the training on March 13, 2018, at the St. Martin Parish Fire Training Center located at 1035-A Ruth Bridge Hwy, Breaux Bridge, LA. The training will be from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
