New Iberia man accused of attempted murder

A 29-year-old New Iberia man has been arrested for an early morning shooting in New Iberia, said police. 

Joshua P. Raved allegedly shot a 27-year-old man shortly before 4:00 a.m. in the 100 block of Ambassador W. Lemelle. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition, according to a spokesman for the sheriff's office.   

Raved will be booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.


A 27-year-old man is in serious condition today after being shot in New Iberia at 4 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim was found by deputies at a home on Ambassador Lemelle Drive. They found him lying in the road in front of the house, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso. He was transported to a New Iberia hospital, then stabilized and transferred to a Lafayette hospital.

Investigators believed there was an argument outside the home between the victim and another man shortly before shots were fired.  Investigators are currently questioning a person of interest.
