Iberia drivers want turn signal back up at intersection

Posted: Updated:

Some drivers in Iberia Parish say they want a turn-signal that was taken down in 2013 put back up again.

The location is at one of only two access roads to the College Park neighborhood.  Right now, the other entrance is closed for construction.

According to DOTD, the open traffic signal at the intersection of Elm Street and East Admiral Doyle Drive doesn't see enough traffic to install a turning light.

Some residents disagree with that.

"We had it for 30 years. They changed the poles. They recounted cars. They're saying we don't have enough people turning to get our arrow back," said New Iberia City Councilman David Broussard.

"Being a taxpayer, and a resident of the neighborhood, I feel we should be strongly supported for the dollars spent. As of right now, we are not," added resident John L. Derouen Jr.
