It was a suggestion from a friend that lead Cherie Hebert down a tiny path.

"Nunu, the local art collector here in town, built a tiny house and people kept wanting to buy it. He thought bringing in a Tiny House manufacture to Arnaudville would be a good idea."

She had an empty warehouse, it had not been used in years, and figured she would give it a shot.

Tee Tiny House was born.

"There are some people that want to have a simpler no maintenance--very low maintenance kind of life style," Hebert said.

The first home is just over 200 square feet.
"It is built like a traditional home," Hebert said. "Because of the metal siding and roof and of the materials this house will last a lifetime."

Hebert said the home can also withstand a pretty strong storm.

"The wind speed load on a house like this is 120mph if it's anchored," Hebert said. "This will withstand a storm."

Hebert said she did not just want to build a tiny home--she also wanted to help generate jobs for the area.

"We actually use sub-contractors from the Arnaudville area and some from Lafayette," Cherie said. "They are all of Cajun decent. We used a lot of local talent to put this together."

Her goal is to build more of these tiny houses and provide jobs to her community for years to come.
