UPDATE: Two people are injured following two separate shootings this evening in New Iberia, marking seven shootings alone in the city in 2018.

Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Lombard Street at 6:44 p.m. and discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to a spokesman for the sheriff's office. He was transferred to a Lafayette hospital and is in stable condition, the spokesman says.

While law enforcement officers were on the scene of the Lombard Street shooting, deputies say they heard multiple gunshots nearby. Subsequently, they discovered spent bullet casings in the 500 block of Johnston Street, according to the sheriff's office spokesman.

Deputies were then informed a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds arrived at Iberia Medical Center. That victim is also in stable condition, deputies say.

No arrests have been made.
