White House taps career federal prosecutor to lead Lafayette-based U.S. Attorney's Office

The White House on Friday announced a nominee to lead the U.S. Attorney's Office for Louisiana's Western District, the Advocate reported.

The nominee, David C. Joseph, currently handles a variety of cases in the Lafayette-based U.S. Attorney's Office. These include fraud, public corruption and white-collar criminal prosecutions, according to a White House press release on Friday announcing Joseph's nomination.

If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Joseph would replace current Interim U.S. Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook, who's led the office in March after former U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley, an Obama administration appointee, stepped down along with dozens of other holdovers.
