Acadian Search and Rescue holding volunteer training event Feb. 17

Acadian Search and Rescue will hold a training event for volunteers on Saturday, February 17 at 10:00 am at the Kaplan Methodist Church in Kaplan.

Volunteers will be trained on how to become team leaders during search and rescue operations taken up by the organization. Those attending will be taught how to lead groups of 5 to 10 volunteers. Training will cover proper search protocols for foot searches, water searches, ATV searches, and Drone searches.

Attendees will also be briefed on supplies that are essential during searches.

Training is free and open to foot searchers, watercraft searchers and drone pilots. The event will last for 1 to 2 hours and refreshments will be served following the training. K9 teams are also welcome.
