A Texas man wanted in a stabbing was arrested Thursday after he lost his camper on a Lake Charles Highway.

According to CPSO, deputies were dispatched to the scene of a local motel on Highway 90 in reference to a shooting February 15, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. Upon investigating, detectives learned that a victim was allegedly stabbed by another man identified as 41-year-old Richard Koch of Texas.

Koch and the victim are said to be former acquaintances.

Detectives say that Koch arrived at the motel at which time he and the victim began to argue. Koch then attempted to hit the victim with his truck, followed by an alleged physical altercation. The victim turned to leave when Koch stabbed him one time in the back.

Koch then fled the scene to his residence where he hitched a camper to his truck. While driving on Highway 397 in Lake Charles the camper separated from the truck. Koch then left the camper in the roadway. It was later removed from the road after deputies happened upon it.

A short time later Koch arrived at CPSO to inquire on the whereabouts of his camper, at which time he was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with aggravated battery; and aggravated assault.  His bond is still pending.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries
