CHARENTON, La. -

A 21-year-old Houma woman is accused of a check scam at a Chitimacha Tribal owned business in St. Mary Parish.

On Friday, Carencro Police came in contact with Randeisha Jones who had an outstanding warrant in Charenton and contacted the Chitimacha Tribal Police Department, according to police.

Jones was arrested on charges of racketeering, access device fraud, bank fraud, and identity theft. She was transported to St Mary Parish Jail.

Police say in 2017 officers received information that there were irregularities with some personal check received for cash. During the investigation into these checks, police learned that a group of people used fake identities to open bank accounts and make cash withdrawals from Cypress Bayou Casino.

Officials learned that the suspects, in this case, were a part of several similar cases in other areas in South Louisiana. Police estimate the total amount stolen from tribal businesses to be thousands of dollars.

Four suspects were arrested in March 2017:

Cotina Walton Batiste, 34, Charlotte Drive, Patterson, was charged with Racketeering, Identity Theft, Forgery, and Access Device Fraud.

Kevin Batiste, 39, Williams Street, Patterson, was charged with Racketeering, Identity Theft, Forgery, and Access Device Fraud.

Robert Skipper, 35, Dora Street, Centerville, was charged with Racketeering, Identity Theft, Forgery, and Access Device Fraud.

Mark Smith, 52, Myrtle Street, Centerville, was charged with Racketeering, Identity Theft, Forgery, and Access Device Fraud.

The investigation is ongoing and there is still an outstanding active warrant for Danglo White.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of White, call 337-923-4964 with that information.  Callers can remain anonymous by contacting the Chitimacha Police Department at reportit@chitimacha.gov or by calling the "Silent Witness" phone number at (337)-923-4205.
