After the busy Mardi Gras celebrations on Tuesday, many of the faithful will reverently begin their observance of the Lenten season on Wednesday, February 14. But the start of Lent doesn't mean busy Christians stop being busy. That's why one church in Lafayette is offering the chance to receive ashes "drive-thru" style.

The Lutheran Church in Lafayette is making it more convenient for members of their congregation to take part in the day of penitence with easy access to ashes via "drive-thru" ashes.

The church will offer ashes at the First Lutheran Church located at 301 W Farrel Rd in Lafayette. Ashes will be offered from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Ash Wednesday, the day after Mardi Gras, begins the Lenten season for several in the Christian community. It marks the end of the raucous celebration and focuses on fasting and prayer the days leading up to Easter Sunday.
