One man died this morning when a pick-up truck turned in front of his motorcycle, State Police said.

Wade Renard, 48, of New Iberia died in the 6:30 a.m. accident on Weeks Island Road at its intersection with U.S. 90, State Police say.

Dioviglido Salina-Salverez, 34, was traveling north on Weeks Island Road in a pick-up truck. He began to make a left turn onto the U.S. 90 onramp and was struck by Renard, who was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle, State Police said.

Renard was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Salina-Salverez was wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries, State Police say. Salina-Salverez was cited for failure to yield. The accident remains under investigation, State Police say.

Troopers remind motorists to always look and make sure it is clear before pulling into traffic or across intersections. Never try and “make it” across when it is unsafe to do so. Always be mindful of other vehicles on the roadway, and obey all traffic control devices.
