Krewe de Canailles takes over Downtown Lafayette

Krewe de Canailles is made its way through Downtown Lafayette. This walking parade is full of crazy characters and lots of fun in its very first year. The theme tonight is local legends.

The "parade without barricades" gave revelers something different than what they're used to.

Even the throws were different. Instead of beads, marchers threw wooden doubloons, pens, coasters, and more.

Co-founder, Paul Kieu, said he is happy with the results and looks forward to next year.

"We are so blessed to see so many people on the streets, we tried so hard to get the word out and people responded. It's really so awesome to see these people line the streets so we can try and start a new Mardi Gras tradition and from what I see here, everything is going pretty great," Kieu said.

Check out all the action from out Float Finders who are following the parade.
