Krewe de Canailles inaugural parade steps off tonight in Downtown Lafayette

Posted: Updated:

Tonight, Friday, February 9, the Krewe of Canailles will take to the streets of Downtown Lafayette for their inaugural parade.

KATC's Katie Lopez was live this morning speaking with organizers and members of the Krewe who are anticipating the walking parades first step off tonight at 7:00 pm.

The parade will begin down at the Rosa Parks Transportation Center before turning down Jefferson Street, through the Freetown neighborhood, and making its final turn down Gordon Street. The parade will end with an after-party at Warehouse 535.

The walking parade will consist of individuals dressed as Local Legends as they make their way along the route. Organizers say the krewe was created to be a more sustainable parade with man-powered, homemade floats, and eco-friendly throws like the wooden "doubloon" emblazoned with the Krewe de Canaille emblem. The Krewe de Canailles is a mixture of krewes.
