Cypremort Point Mardi Gras cancelled

Posted: Updated:

The Cypremort Point Mardi Gras Parade has been cancelled.

"This decision was not an easy one to make. I know that many members and camp owners have invited friends and families to their camps and homes to celebrate the occasion. I also recognize the time and money that members have already spent on their floats and throws. I do not want to cause people any more burden and expense then have to possibly cancel it at the last minute on Saturday," a post on the krewe's Facebook page states.

According to the post, this is only the second time in more than 20 years of rolling that the parade has been cancelled.

This year's King Lanie Buteaux and Queen Sharon Lemoine will ride their floats in next year's parade.
