Evangeline School Board approves plan

The Evangeline Parish School Board has approved a plan to make up the time lost during the ice storms last month.

Superintendent Darwan Lazard drafted the plans.

One part of the plan affects Basile schools. The other part of the plan affects Mamou High School, Mamou Elementary, Vidrine Elementary, Evangeline Central, Pine Prairie High School, Bayou Chicot Elementary, Ville Platte High School, Ville Platte Elementary, James Stephens Montessori, and Chataigner Elementary.

The plan for Basile schools has children attending school on Ash Wednesday and on February 19, which is President's Day. Those days had been scheduled as holidays. The plan also adds five minutes of instruction to each day of school starting this week. 

The plan for the remaining schools has children attending school on President's Day, which had been scheduled as a holiday. Those schools also will add 5 to 11 minutes of instruction to each school day, starting this week.
