KATC's Katie Lopez was live this morning in Youngsville finding out about the new changes to the city's weekend Mardi Gras parade and what residents and revelers can expect. The parade will be held on Saturday, February 10 at 11:00 am.

This year the parade will feature a brand new route. Starting at the Youngsville Sports Complex, the parade will head up Chemin Metairie, make a turn onto Milton and then follow the route back to the complex. The Youngsville police department will begin closing roadways at 10 am and police say there will be no exceptions except for medical emergencies

A designated area from the intersection of Chemin Metairie and Savoy Rd all the way down to Ascension Episcopal High School will be an alcohol-free zone where families can enjoy the parade

90 groups have applied for permits to ride during the Youngsville parade this year. Grand Marshal's chosen to lead this year's parade will be members of the  American Cancer Society's Acadiana Chapter and those affected by cancer.
