St. Landry Parish Superintendent answers questions at improvement tax forum

Posted: Updated:

"What schools are going to be closing I want to know what are you going to do with that faculty that is going to be moving from one school to the next," said Lachana Malone McCartney a parent in St. Landry Parish.

Those are some of the questions parents asked St. Landry Schools Superintendent Patrick Jenkins during a forum on the school improvement tax that will be on the March ballot.

Dozens of parents went to Northwest High School Wednesday night to get answers about how the tax would benefit them. While some have their concerns, others are supporting the project wholeheartedly.

"I think its very important, even if your child is no longer in school. It's still important to invest in our children. You will benefit from a child who is your neighbor who is getting a good education,"  said Caleb Semien, pastor at Word Ministries Christian Academy
