Wednesday morning, a third-grade student at Park Vista Elementary School in Opelousas had a bag of cocaine on the school's campus, according to a spokeswoman for Opelousas Police Dept.

The student found the drugs at a bus stop and brought the bag to school to show one of her friends.

They then told the teacher and the teacher informed the school resource officer, stated the spokeswoman.

Now the school and resource officers are using the experience to teach younger students about drugs.
