United Blood Services to hold Mardi Gras Celebration Drive

United Blood Services will hold a Mardi Gras Celebration Drive on Friday, February 9 at the UBS office located at 1503 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette. The organization is encouraging donors to get into the Mardi Gras spirit by stopping in a donating to join the "Krewe of Life."

The blood drive will be held on Friday, February 9 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.  UBS says that all donors will receive a Mardi Gras donor t-shirt, slice of king cake from Southside Bakery, commemorative heart-shaped Mardi Gras bead, and a $25 Papa John's Pizza gift card.

Those interested can schedule an appointment at www.bloodhero.com or by calling 337-235-5433. UBS says that all blood types are needed.

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 and 17 years of age must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.  Donors receive a free cholesterol test.
