Former Crowley Police officer heads back to work keeping Crowley safe

Posted: Updated:

Jean Comeaux is living the good life.

A former Crowley Police Officer, Comeaux retired in 2013 after serving 25 years in law enforcement. now he's heading back to work.

"Well, when I retired I kind of spoke with the chief about getting on the reserve, and he said he had something up his sleeve that he wanted to try," says Comeaux.

Comeaux is one of 3 retired Crowley Police officers who are coming back to volunteer duty this year and Jean says he has been staying sharp.

"My wife told me I pretty much haven't defused since I retired. Every time we walk in somewhere she says I look around. Go to a restaurant, I've always got my back against the back wall," says Comeaux.

That's why Crowley Police Chief Jimmy Brousard is glad to have officers like Jean Comeaux back on the force.

"Just the three have close to 100 years experience total. So we're bringing back all of that experience and knowledge and wisdom not only to help us out but maybe to help some of the younger officers with their wisdom and knowledge," says Broussard.

Comeaux says his decision to come out of retirement was two-fold. His first reason is that more cops on the streets makes Crowley safer, and the second is because of a universal feeling.

"I feel needed again. And it feels pretty good cause everybody needs to feel needed," says Comeaux.
