Important weekend for Cajun women on the road

Posted: Updated:

As Bob Marlin put it Monday, it's the back nine of the regular season in the Sun Belt and for the Louisiana Women's team, each game is magnified a little more as they jockey for position in the Sun Belt.

Facing Georgia State and Georgia Southern this week, the Cajuns have a prime opportunity to add some polish to their SBC record. The two teams sit at the bottom of the conference with just two Sun Belt wins between them.

Often coach Garry Brodhead talks about the importance of winning at least one on the road, however, a sweep this week could go a long way towards helping the sixth place Cajuns work back into the top four and earn a first round conference tournament bye.

"I don't look too far ahead, but last week they brought the bracket to me and said if we finished today, this is where we're at." said women's basketball coach Garry Brodhead. "We would have been in sixth because of the tie breakers and all that. But everybody is bundled up in the middle that it's kind of hard to say where you want to be."
