Lafayette observes Mardi Gras season 2018 before council meeting

Lafayette recognized the observation of Mardi Gras 2018 season. 

During the Lafayette City-Parish Council meeting, Tuesday, Kenneth Boudreaux offered brief comments on the historical context of Mardi Gars in Lafayette. 

Mayor-President Joel Robideaux presented proclamations in honor of the Diamond Jubilee of King Toussaint L'Ouverture LX and Queen Suzanne Simmone LX of Lafayette Marid Gras Festival.

The public was invited to join the council to take part in the cutting of the king cake as part of the observation of the Mardi Gras season. The council meeting began shortly after at 5:30 p.m. 

Northside High School performed as a part of the festivities.
