Saints Dorenbos to receive Super Bowl ring

Posted: Updated:

A trade may have saved his life, and now former Eagles long-snapper is being rewarded for more than a decade in Philadelphia with a Super Bowl LII ring.

Jon Dorenbos will receive a Super Bowl ring from the Eagles. Dorenbos was traded to the Saints this off-season. The impending physical to complete the trade revealed an aortic aneurysm, which required open-heart surgery, ending his career, but perhaps saving his life.

Dorenbos went undrafted out of Texas El-Paso. He played for the Bills and Titans before spending 11 seasons in Philadelphia where he earned 2 Pro Bowl selections. He was a staple on the Eagles' special teams unit until he was traded.

The 37-year-old long snapper became much bigger than football in 2016 when he starred on the NBC hit show America's Got Talent.
