A group of men are being hailed as heroes for rescuing two toddlers they found wandering in a field near Duson. The men discovered the two children near the Pontalba Apartments on Marigny Circle.

A Facebook live video shows the men helping the children find their way home, before sheriff's deputies took over.

One of the men says he was doing what any other parent would do.

"They're 3 and 2 years old," local rapper Yung Jabo said. "Only thing I could do at that moment is help. I couldn't pass it up. I couldn't ."

The rapper and his friends say they found the two toddlers, wandering around his neighborhood near the Pontabla Apartments.

He says the children were walking alone in a nearby field, with only diapers on and no parents in sight.

"The oldest one was like 3 years old. She kept pointing. I guess she knew a sense of where she lived, but she couldn't speak enough to say my house is over here."

Yung Jabo and his friends, immediately rushed in to help. As a parent, Yung Jabo said he couldn't stand to watch the children being alone. He is thankful the group of men found the two children before anyone else could.

"If something happened to my daughter and she was walking around like that, I would want somebody to take care of her. This world is crazy. All the stuff that's going on right now. It would have been bad if some people not like us would have got them. They're 3 and 2 years old with no clothes on. It's ridiculous."

Sheriff's deputies say they have arrested the father of the children.

Richard Robertson is facing a child desertion charge.  He remains in jail on $2,500 bond.
