Authorities are on the scene of a body found near Southern University campus, according to WBRZ. 

Officials responded to reports of a body found near Southern University's campus sometime around 3:00 p.m. The body, according to WBRZ, was found floating in the Mississippi River. 

The body was discovered by a group of LSU students visiting the campus near Harding Blvd.

A spokesperson for Southern University released a statement saying, "This is an unfortunate incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of the victim. No identification has been made."
