The Louisiana SPCA says that a rider who was caught on camera abusing his horse during the New Orleans parade of the Krewe of Oshun has been cited for animal cruelty.

The video which has gone viral on Facebook shows the man repeatedly hitting his horse as the pair attempt to ride down the parade route in a group of other horses.

The Louisiana SPCA has identified the man in the video, but will not release his name. The riding group that the rider was participating in the parade with, Nu Generations, says that the person will not be allowed to ride with the group again.

The horse, according to LSPCA, is currently in another parish and they will be working with those parish officials to seize control of the horse.
