Children in Acadiana are getting into the Mardi Gras spirit.
The little revelers gathered at Vermilionville in Lafayette on Saturday to make Mardi Gras-themed hats and king cakes.
They also partnered with the Basile Mardi Gras Association as they went around and "begged" for ingredients in the community gumbo while performing other traditions along the way.
In Mamou, families gathered for the Traditional Children's Mardi Gras Run, also known as the Courir de Mardi Gras, where kids chased around a chicken.
