Youthful Cajuns baseball learning, leaning on chemistry

When Louisiana debuts Feb. 16 at Texas, there will be a lot of fresh faces on the field. UL will be breaking in five new positional starters along with almost an entirely new bullpen.

The Cajuns know they will have to work out their lumps early on, but it won't be due to a lack of chemistry.

"It's a very close knit group," senior LHP Hogan Harris said. "Having a lot of young guys. Having such a young team, you have to be with them a lot. Help them to mature quickly. So you're more focused on the people. I feel like that's going to end up working in our favor. Because of how close we've had to become because of that and in the end, it's made us become closer friends too. "

"These guys love to come out here, we have a bunch of fun out here." senior outfielder Kennon Fontenot said. "When we come out here, it doesn't feel like practice. We get to come out here and enjoy each other and it's just fun. It's a good time."
