One person is dead and one person is injured after a shooting broke out at a Mardi Gras parade in Jeanerette today.

At 4:00 p.m., law enforcement officers responded to a report of a shooting in Jeanerette and discovered two male victims were shot near the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Monnot Road, according to a spokesman for the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office.

One of the victims was shot in the chest, and the other victim was shot in the leg, the spokesman says.
