Sunshine returning with mild temperatures

Posted: Updated:

On and off showers will continue this evening which could cause some issues with the Rio parade but it will not be a washout and the rain should start to fizzle out by about midnight.

Clouds will stick around for the start of Sunday before a weak cool front slides down through the region pushing the clouds out to sea and allowing for some sunshine by the afternoon with comfortable temperatures in the mid-60s.

It will be a cool start to the new work week with lows Monday morning in the low to mid-40s but it should be another nice day with lots of sunshine and highs in the mid-60s.

Tuesday winds will turn out of the south pushing warm and humid air over Acadiana as highs will climb into the lower 70s with clouds increasing through the day, along with a few scattered showers during the afternoon.

Showers will become more widespread and heavy Wednesday morning/afternoon as a cold front swings through the southeast.

This front could even produce a couple thunderstorms but nothing severe.

Behind the front, cooler air will move down into Acadiana with lows Thursday morning dropping into the upper 30s to lower 40s and highs only reaching the upper 50s under mostly sunny skies.

But by Friday afternoon clouds will be on the increase again as our next system starts to head our way.

It looks like a wet start to Mardi Gras weekend a cold front will dive down into Acadiana Saturday afternoon producing scattered showers and a couple thunderstorms.

Thus some of the parades next Saturday could be on the wet side, especially the ones during the morning and afternoon.

The good news is once this front pushes through the region we should have dry conditions for the rest of Mardi Gras.

Sunday parades should be fine with partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-50s.

As for Monday and Tuesday, the forecast looks good with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
