A PetSmart employee in Texas has been fired after allegedly handling a dog in an aggressive manner while grooming it.

KTRK reports a customer witnessed the alleged incident before recording it with her phone. "I was trembling, freaking out. I couldn't believe what I had just seen," said Terah Leder.

Leder says the video shows the employee yanking the 2-year-old Shih Tzu with one hand while holding the dog's snout with the other.

After explaining to management what happened, Leder then waited outside for an hour for someone to come pick up the dog.

Brooke Vowers then arrived to pick Boo the Shih Tzu up from PetSmart and was shocked to hear the news.

After Leder showed Vowers the video, Boo's owner posted the video on Facebook where it went viral.

"If this happened to my dog, it probably happened to other dogs, and I don't want it to happen to future dogs," said Vowers.

She says she is thankful for Leder, who stood up for her four-legged companion.

PetSmart was quick to respond to the allegation, saying the treatment is "completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated," according to the Houston-based media outlet.

There is no criminal investigation at this time.
