Drizzly weather kick starts the weekend

Posted: Updated:

A cold, windy, sloppy start to Friday which will set the stage for what is expected to be a pretty nasty weekend with more showers on the way, and even a few thunderstorms.

Colder air has rushed into the area after a warm Thursday and a definite chill will be in the air Friday night and through Saturday, before a slight warm up Sunday afternoon.

Winds will add to the chilly conditions with a blustery north wind sticking around the 10-15 mph range with gusts that will peak around 25 mph at times Friday morning.

Patchy clearing will be possible Friday afternoon but the sunshine will be short lived and the clouds will come rolling back into the area and thicken up by Saturday.

The weekend will be a frustrating forecast for both revelers and forecasters a like, with a poorly structured front moving in across the region Saturday evening/night and clearing on Sunday.

This won't be welcomed news for anyone wanting to attend the Rio Parade Saturday night as showers are expected to pick up Saturday evening just before the start of the parade.

Any thunderstorms we may see won't arrive until later in the evening which could interfere with any of the after parties that may be going on Saturday night, but it should start to clear on Sunday.
