Wednesday afternoon, Lafayette Police were called out to an incident at the corner of Ambassador Caffery and Kaliste Saloom.

One person has died, now identified as a Carencro High School student. The death, according to police, is being described as a suicide.

Chief Administrative Officer for LPSS Joe Craig says that student services, social workers, and counselors will be on hand starting tomorrow at Carencro High. The student, we are told, was also heavily involved in the community and other school organizations so counselors will be sent to other schools in the parish as well to help other students who may be affected by this incident.

" Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this student," Craig said.
