The U.S. Department of Agriculture will hold its 8th annual Louisiana Women in Agriculture Conference on Thursday, February 22 and Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Alexandria.

Agriculture is one of the largest revenue providers in Louisiana, bringing in about $11 billion in state revenue a year. The USDA says that of the 26,000 farms owned in Louisiana, 3,500 of those farms are owned and operated by women.

Compared nationally, 2.1 million farms are owned and operated in America and 14% are run by women.

The conference will cater to those interested in any aspect of agriculture from ranching, to farming and for those interested in taking the step into the industry. The event includes two optional tours followed by a reception on Thursday and a conference on Friday.

The event will feature two keynote speakers and break-out sessions to learn about organically certified farms, optimizing forest land, and staying true to you in business, among other topics.

Registration for the event will be at louisianawomeninag.com, the event is $50 dollars and includes the Thursday afternoon tour and reception and Friday's conference.
