CASA of St. Landry-Evangeline looking for volunteers

Court Appointed Special Advocates or CASA of St. Landry-Evangeline, Inc. will hold a training event on March 12th. This meeting is the start date to become a CASA is a requirement to become a volunteer. 

There are two walks being held during the year as regular meetings for CASA volunteers in the parish that the organization services. The first will be held in St. Landry Parish on April 7th. The second walk will take place in Evangeline Parish on April 14th.

CASA volunteers are those who are trained and sworn into court to advocate for a child currently in the foster care system due to child abuse or neglect. There are over 150 children in foster care and the organization is looking for more volunteers to become advocates for the many children who still need help.

There are 3 requirements to become a CASA:

  • You must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must pass a series of background checks
  • and must complete the pre-service training on March 12th.
