Flash Flood Watch continues until 6PM

Posted: Updated:

Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for all of Acadiana until 6PM this evening.

Moderate to heavy rains from a Gulf low are pounding south Louisiana this morning.

Many locations have already picked up 1-2 inches of rain while areas in Iberia, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes have seen 3-7 inches of rain.

Towns of Abbeville, Delcambre, New Iberia, St. Martinville & Youngsville are reporting flooding on roadways and in low lying areas.

This is a picture sent to us by Andre Broussard in Abbeville.

Steady rains will continue through the afternoon producing an additional 1-3 inches of rain for most of Acadiana which will cause more flooding problems in poor drainage areas and on roadways.

Rains should finally push out of Acadiana this evening allowing drains to catch up.

Remember to never drive through flooded roadways as it only takes about 1-2 feet of water to start floating your car.

Also, you should not drive through flooded roads as your wake could push water into home sand businesses.
