The Town of Gueydan will be shutting off power to the town on Wednesday, January 31st for about 4 to 6 hours.

The shutoff is being conducted to allow for maintenance work on a substation located on 1st and Levert Street. The outage should only affect residents east of the substation from 1st to 6th Street and north from Levert to Walker Street.

A pole will have to be changed out, and there are several transformers on it, he said.

Crews will be out knocking on doors to let residents know the power will be out that morning, but he estimated that it probably will be shut off at about 9 a.m.
