Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputies arrested a Westlake man Thursday in connection with the attempted murder and rape of a teen.

Deputies were called to a home at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday. They found a 15-year-old girl who said Patrick Brown pulled a knife on her, made her expose herself, and tried to rape her with the knife at her throat, a spokesman said. She told deputies he choked her, pinned her to the ground, and hit her in the back of the head with something, a spokesman said. She was able to get away, but had lacerations on her neck and hand, the spokesman said.

The child described Brown as a family acquaintance.

Detectives made contact with Brown, who was still located at the residence where the incident took place, and he was arrested and into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with attempted first-degree rape and attempted second-degree murder.  Judge David Ritchie set his bond at $600,000.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries and released.

CPSO Detective Randall Ravia is the lead investigator on this case.
