Violent crimes down in the city of Eunice

Violent crimes in the City of Eunice are down according to a new report from the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

According to FBI statistics, the numbers started dropping in 2015. The city's police chief Randy Fontenot says they made minor patrol changes and changes in officer training, but most importantly, the chief says there has been an improvement in community relations. Below are the statistics on the city of Eunice's violent crimes.

FBI states based on 100k population

2012: 116 violent ctimes
2013: 98
2014: 123
2015: 60
2016: 65

"If we have good communication with the community and they trust us, they're going to be more willing to open up to us to tell us about what they've seen going on, if they distrust the police, they're not going to talk to us at all, and we have to really work to rebuild that trust and I think we've been doing a good job," says Randy Fontenot, Chief of Eunice Police Department.
